A Bit About Hannah

Hannah works at the clinic as our Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, providing CBT and Compassion Focussed Therapy. She is studying towards her Post graduate Master's degree in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy at the University of Central Lancashire. She is a member of the BABCP, and is working towards her accreditation.

Hannah has a background of working with both vulnerable children and adults. She started her career at Preston hospital in the mental health Crisis and Home Treatment team as an administration assistant, this strengthened Hannah's passion for mental health. Hannah began to work as a home carer, mainly for dementia patients and end of life patients with motor neurone disease, offering respite care for the families.

Hannah began working with children, she qualified as an early year's practitioner and began working in preschools and nursery settings. Hannah then retrained to become a primary school teaching assistant, working with many children with behavioural and additional needs.

Hannah provided extra support with children's learning and social skills, working independently and in groups. Hannah supported the nurture group for children suffering with anxiety and depression and attended meetings with parents and teachers to ensure that each child had the chance to reach their full potential.

Hannah wanted to expand her knowledge and skills in mental health with adults. She chose to study Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy in order to provide practical ways for clients to move forward in their lives and to confidently and independently create positive change. She worked for our clinic as an Assistant Psychologist to begin with before taking on the role as Lead CBT therapist.

Hannah is a naturally warm and friendly person and strives to help those in need of support. Hannah will work in collaboration with you to support you to work towards your goals. She will discuss how your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical body sensations all link together and aim to break the vicious cycle by guiding you through cognitive and behavioural techniques.

CBT is an active solution focused therapy. Hannah will provide you with some tasks between sessions to ensure you gain the most from your therapy sessions.

Client Testimonials

"I contacted the TTC for help after suffering for a few months with anxiety.

Hannah very quickly confirmed that I was suffering from Health Anxiety.

I found her very understanding and after 5 sessions I learnt a number of techniques which helped me stay calm, question my unhelpful thoughts, and also gave me a few methods or relaxation.

Although this anxiety has now passed I am more confident5 that should it return in the future I will have the correct tools to deal with it.

Hannah has recommended that I review my anxiety levels on a monthly basis and also to practice my coping techniques.

Thanks Hannah!"

"I sought CBT was suffering from anxiety, early waking, tiredness and burn out. This was due to having taken a high pressure job involving nightwork that did not fit with my needs for low stress levels and a regular routine and sleep pattern as an autistic person. Having Hannah's opinion, as a professional therapist, helped validate my conclusion that the job was too much for me and I needed to seek alternative work. Once I handed in my notice, my anxiety eased.

Hannah also helped me to see that over planning, which was causing me to wake early and creating more stress, was a safety mechanism and wasn't helping.

Recognising and addressing this hasd helped me re-establish my sleep pattern and ease my anxiety.

I attended four sessions in total and now feel more in control of my life.

I felt Hannah was a good listener and provided the right techniques and advice for my situation, and would recommend her to others."

"I didn't know what to expect regarding therapy and felt restless and unsure as to what to expect. As my niece had organised the therapy, she attended the first session with me. I needn't have worried as Hannah has remarkable interpersonal skills, such as listening and offering sound advice.

I felt happy during sessions and was given feedback each week.

It has been well worth attending as Hannah made me feel confident and ready to tackle the future. Thank you again!"
