Psychological therapy is our highest level of intervention and only available with our qualified Psychologist Dr Jennifer Pulman. Jennifer uses a tailored approach to therapy which may include a mixture of some of the therapies listed below rather than a one size fits all approach. The therapies and approaches used will be matched to the personal therapy goals you wish to achieve.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy aims to help clients gain an understanding of their thoughts, emotions and actions.

When clients understand the connections between thoughts and emotions, their actions and behaviours are more easily understood. Clients can set achievable goals in collaboration with their therapist. Mindfulness-based stress reduction combines mindfulness with meditation with a particular focus on reducing stress.

Focused

Therapy (CFT)

Compassion focused therapy aims to help promote mental and emotional healing by encouraging people in treatment to be compassionate toward themselves and other people. Compassion both toward the self and toward others is an emotional response believed by many to be an essential aspect of wellbeing. 

CFT aims to develop compassionate motivation, sympathy, sensitivity and distress tolerance through the use of specific training and guided exercises designed to help individuals further develop non-judging and non-condemning attributes.

This is a form of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences or trauma.

 

Research has demonstrated its benefits in treating psychological trauma arising from experiences as diverse as childhood physical and/or sexual trauma, neglect, natural disaster, road traffic accidents, war related experiences, assault, surgical trauma, and workplace accidents etc.

It can also help with other issues such as OCD and phobias.

Solution focused therapy is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psychotherapuetic change that is conducted through direct observation of clients' responses to a series of precisely conducted questions. 

It enables clients to focus on solutions rather than problems enabling them to establish their own goals and have a more positive outlook on life.
