Katie is a person-centred counsellor working with adults with emotional difficulties.  Katie started her therapy career by completing her foundation degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Derby university in may 2020. She is currently studying towards her BA Hons Degree in person centred counselling with a unit on Trauma and Psychology. Katie has undertaken the ASSIST suicide intervention training and more recently the Online and telephone counselling training.

Katie has 3 years experience working for the the NHS mental health helpline and currently still there. She assists  those in crisis with mental and emotional struggles from self harm, suicide attempts, addiction, psychosis, loneliness, or for just someone to talk to. Katie's most recent position was working for Lancashire women in Blackpool, within this organisation she was a Counsellor and a peer support development worker. She assisted women to move through the centre depending on their needs. She ran peer support groups, from drop in's to specifically tailored groups, she also co-lead the courses on confidence building and self esteem programs designed to help women recognise areas in their lives they felt needed developing.

Katie has worked with victims of domestic abuse, addiction, homelessness, probation clients, and some with complex mental health disorders. It was a high risk, fast paced position. She likes to bring in mindfulness into her work, she likes to educate her clients on things such as their attachment style, the stages of grief or how trauma works on the mind and body and so she factors in some psychoeducation.

"I feel so humbled at being there at the very bottom and helping people back up again. seeing my clients grow their wings and take off is a feeling that I will hold onto forever and is the reason I love my job".
